Gymnastics Australia has chosen Manly Warringah as the host club for the first coaching clinic for the new FREE G program. The course to be held on the 15th of May will see 4 MWGC coaches join with other visiting coaches to establish an accreditation platform that is able to deliver the new program throughout clubs in NSW.
During 2015 we offered our facility to the pilot program and hosted development workshops. Clubs from all over NSW attended several sessions that were designed to brainstorm ideas that would customise the UK born program to better suit Australia’s needs. We heard from coaches and members of clubs who had developed their own programs and we discussed their successes and failures. It was evident that that quite a few clubs saw the benefits of offering a Parkour and Freerunning based program.
Although MWGC’s Freestyle program is realising decent numbers, we are hoping the new levels system will encourage more of the young crew to participate and compete.
We understand that the FREE G program may be officially launched and showcased during the Australian Championships this year.
